‘Watermark’
Dry-point print, to mark the Twentieth
Anniversary of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, 2014
Client: IWAMD
“Commissioned
to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Irish World Academy of Music and
Dance at the University of Limerick, the works in WATERMARK reflect both its
discovery for the first time, as well as longer relationships with the
institution throughout its history. David Lilburn’s work for the exhibition extends
his re-imagining of the idea of the map – so beautifully, playfully and
gracefully explored in his In Media Res
series. For WATERMARK, Lilburn maps both in time and depth – building maps on
maps of his memories of the music, dance and festivals of the Academy
throughout its twenty years on the banks of the Shannon.”
